Essence Cosmetics: One Brand Full Face Makeup Look and Review | Beauty

Since I own so many products by Essence, I thought it would be fun to create a one brand makeup tutorial using products from Essence makeup.  I was able to create a full face of makeup using products that all costed less than R100, which is great for babes on a budget. Essence makeup can be found at Clicks, Dischem, Takelot and other popular makeup stores.

Enjoy!

Primer: Retailing under R80, this primer is great for ladies suffering with oily and greasy skin. It applies beautifully, and leaves the skin feeling tacky (this is great for getting foundation to stick to the primer) and dry (this will help keep the oiliness at bay). I find that this really helps with keeping my makeup oil-free and I was really impressed at how little greasiness I had on my forehead and T-Zone area.

Stay All Day Foundation: There’s a few things about this foundation that I have to mention. Firstly, the price point is great since it retails for only R84,95. The colour selection is good and you get a decent amount of product. My problem with this foundation is that it did make my pores show through, especially around my nose area. The coverage was light-medium.

Cover Stick Concealer: I must admit, I didn’t really have high hopes for this one since I’m not a fan of stick concealers at all. It was really thick and even though it blended out easily, it just felt too heavy. It also highlighted my fine lines and creases which was a let down. I would recommend trying out the liquid concealer. If you are interested in thick and creamy concealers, this one retails for R45,95.

Bronzer : To bronze up my face, I used the Essence Lights of Orient Bronzer which just recently launched. I absolutely loved the Bronzer. The colour is warm toned which is great for bronzing up the face (not so great for sontouring). It isn’t chalky or muddy, and the pigmentation is great too.

Matt Blush: I’ve been a fan of this blush since the day I first tried it. It’s a pretty, berry-toned pink shade that suits my complexion so beautifully. It gives a gorgeous flush of colour, and retailing at R54, it’s worth every cent.

Highlighter: The Light up my Face Luminiser Palette by Essence is absolutely incredible. It contains 3 different highlighting shades to suit all skin tones. I personally mix the second and third shade for a blinding highlight. This is a really affordable, drugstore highlighter that I would absolutely recommend.

Eyeshadow : I own a few of the Essence All About Eyeshadow Palettes, but my favourite has got to be the All About Nudes. The shades are perfect to create both everyday looks, or more intense looks. I personally like an all brown crease, with a touch of shimmer on the lid. The palette worked well, the shades lasted for quite a long time, it was easy to blend out and it’s only R89,95. My only problem is that there isn’t an in-between transition shade- it jumps from light to dark instantly.

Eyeliner: The 2-in-1 eyeliner pen has to be one of my favourites. It makes applying liner very simple. I personally use the thin side to lightly line the top of my lash line, just to give the appearance or thicker lashes.

Mascara: The False Lashes Mascara is fantastic! It lengthens my lashes up to the heavens (literally). It isn’t very clumping nor very spidery which I like. I apply one coat to my lashes since more than that isn’t necessary. Plus, it’s only R54,95!

Lipstick: I used the shade 6 Don’t stop the nude. It isn’t a Matte lipstick which isn’t my favourite in the world, but it still applies well. The colour is gorgeous and looks good with my skin complexion . However, because it isn’t a Matte lipstick, it does wear off easily and you have to reapply during the day.

The picture above is the makeup look I created. Unfortunately it’s not very clear (phone camera issues).

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Essence makes great makeup and most of the products used in this look were really amazing to work with. I look forward to buying tons more Essence makeup!

All my love
